Language:
-During reading workshop Mrs. Doloughty and I have been focusing on the comprehension skill of determining importance. The work is rich and I truly believe that it helps students to be more efficient and successful readers. Daybooks are also used to reinforce the instruction. Finally, students continue to read assigned books at their instructional level in addition to choice reading.
-This week Fountas and Pinnell reading assessments will be completed.
-In writing we will begin an exploration of narrative writing. Narrative writing can be challenging as it is difficult to maintain a tight focus, but narrative writing also allows for a great deal of choice an creativity.
Math:
The unit seven assessment will be administered on Tuesday. This assessment is pretty tough as it includes the order of operations and negative numbers. We will spend Monday’s math class providing a general review and a targeted skill review for identified students needing specific extra support.
Science & Social Studies:
Students presented their Revolutionary War research projects. Projects included Power Point presentations, books for children, newspapers and even an original song and performance on guitar by Leah! A special thanks goes to Mrs. Doloughty for keeping students on task and on time with their projects. On Monday, our class will return to Mrs. Buswell for science to begin the Mysterious Powders unit.
