We started the Long Trail Run/Walk challenge today. Each class has the goal to walk/run the length the length of the Long Trail. There will be special awards for those students that complete a marathon (26.2miles) over the 3 weeks. A goal I am encouraging the students to strive for!
A permission slips for the June field trips was sent home today. The PTO has provided each teacher with some funds to help cover the costs for students that need some extra financial support.
I also sent home the May menu.

Friday Notes
Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments »We had a great day! The students came with “crazy hair” and technology galore! Tyler’s popcorn maker was a HUGE hit!
Reading: We continued working in the Storyworks magazine – read a great story about a boy with Down syndrome and a related poem; read a spring poem by Langston Hughes and discussed personification; and read an article about Beyonce promoting Pepsi. The students prepared for mini debates – taking sides on the issue “Do you think it is OK for Beyonce to promote soda?” Ask them to share the two view points. The debating was fun to watch!!!!!
Math: Students have their unit assessments with them today to share with you. They did very well! The new unit is a fun one – focuses on reflection. They are using reflecting mirrors to complete a variety of assignments. Ask about playing darts and pool!
Writing: We are continuing a focus on listening and responding to short texts, then writing a personal connection to the topic.
Science: Plants are sprouting!!!!!!!! Continuing to complete Internet research connected to plants.
Book order: Students have the April orders with them today. For those interested – orders are due on Friday, April 19th.
Enjoy the weekend! Think sun!!!!!!!!
