Dog Sled Visit

Today we had Chris Hayes visit our classroom. He brought two dog sleds, eight dogs and all the materials (ie. Harness’, leads, and lines).

Chris showed us many pictures of his dogs, his kennel and some races he has competed in. Chris and his team do sprint races which usually last from 7-11 miles.

Later, we got to go outside and pet some of his dogs!!!! We met Chewy, PT, Nina, Rush, and Tibbet.

Iditarod

We are well under way on our Iditarod and Alaska unit!

The iditarod started on March 3, 2012 and the first person to finish was last night around 7:00 pm on March 13, 2012!

Not everyone has finished yet but they soon will. We are excited that Dallas Seavey was the first person to finish the race this year!
